Built to be difficult to imitate
Every product we make carries layered security features, some visible to the public, some only to a trained enforcement officer. The combination is what makes them hard to counterfeit, and it’s designed so that any attempt to tamper leaves evidence behind.
So, how are MOGO licence plates protected against forgery?
Injection-moulded tactile markings
Our clear plates are injection moulded rather than cut from sheet, which means they can’t be replicated with standard print equipment. MOGO tactile markings are formed into the plate during moulding and can be identified by touch at the roadside.
Tamper-evident
construction
Plates are bonded with 3M 932FL high-tack adhesive, creating a permanent seal between the printed licence and the protective cover. The printed substrate carries a security layer that bonds irreversibly to the adhesive. Any attempt to lift or peel the plate shreds the backing print and delaminates the layers.
Custom holograms
Each product carries a unique, custom-engineered hologram using a dual-channel flip effect and expansion kinetic layers, so different security images appear depending on viewing angle. It’s very difficult to reproduce, and it voids irreversibly if the plate is interfered with.
QR Validation
Plates can carry a unique, non-replicable QR code linked to our secure validation software. Enforcement officers, licensing teams and members of the public can verify a plate with a standard smartphone, no specialist app needed. The code can also link through to your own licensing page so the public can report a concern about a vehicle or driver.
How are MOGO plates tested?
All external plates are manufactured, assembled and tested in compliance with our ISO 9001:2015 quality management system, and tested to BSAU145e.
Testing runs on two tracks. In-house testing in our own laboratory covers bend resistance, thermal cycling, solvent resistance, UV exposure, vibration and impact to 7.5 joules. Independent accelerated weathering testing is carried out twice a year by an external laboratory, simulating a full service life under controlled conditions.
Plates are produced in controlled batches of 5,000, with samples drawn from every batch and results logged against the polycarbonate pallet ID, adhesive pallet ID and production batch reference. That gives full traceability back to material source if anything is ever queried.
