Our MOGO Recycling
Scheme

MOGO operates a certified end-of-life recycling programme for all products we supply. Plates, badges, signage, the lot. We handle collection, secure destruction and the paperwork that comes with it, so there's nothing extra for your team to manage.

It runs under our ISO 14001 environmental management system and a licensed waste carrier, and it's free for the duration of your contract.

Working towards
a circular economy

Materials go into our products, out to your fleet, and back to us when the licence expires. Then they're separated, reprocessed, and returned to production as new components. Polycarbonate becomes polycarbonate again.

Anything that can't be recovered as material goes to plasma furnaces instead, converted into clean synthesis gas that generates electricity back into the national grid. Nothing reaches landfill either way.

It's a long-term piece of work, and we're still going. We're working with our suppliers to increase the proportion of recycled content in our products, and looking at where else the loop can be tightened. Every product that comes back gets us a bit closer.

During the rollout of the new North Yorkshire Council in 2023, it was considered a priority that taxis should display licence plates with the new Council’s logo on from day one. Without MOGO’s collaboration, we would have faced challenges in producing and distributing approximately 1600 vehicle plates and additional signage in time to meet this deadline.

Not all
plastics are equal

Not all plastics are equal when it comes to recycling. We chose polycarbonate and recycled PVC because they fit into established, high-recovery recycling infrastructure.

Biodegradable materials can release greenhouse gases if composted incorrectly and are generally harder to recover at a materials level. Recyclable materials, processed through the right routes, achieve recovery rates of 70–95% compared to 0–10% for landfill. That is the gap we are trying to close.

This is what we mean by circular economy. Materials that go round again, rather than out.
